eclipse

golden hues steal away to distant borderlands
a reverent hush descends
earth crumbles under footsteps slowly trodden
stillness

the deepening collision of colours
twilight looms
crimson robes blend into granite walls
as nature whispers of its witness

salt laden droplets pierce
hardened shells
stalwart soldiers observe
final glows fade into oblivion

sudden chills
a vice upon the heart
near-eternal silence
hope forsaken
eclipsed

while blackness circumscript
by fractured stone
a gentle blush, a glimmer
darkness mollified

half-light awakens slowly
lifeblood returns
the emergence of hope
resurrected
